Tim Alexander is my favourite drummer among anyone. His use of the hi-hat is very original and subtile, I feel he's whole playing is based on wise accents on each drum-parts. Altough you hear that he's got a lot of technic he use it in a very musical way that correspond perfectly to primus music.
I was always curious how really his drum solos were sounding like. Finally the Dvd came out, and I wasn't at all disappointed. He knows how to make the intensity change, how to be sensitive and SO FLUIDE as angry. And he's delay sound effect makes this part of the show darkly atmospheric, I had to watch it about a hundred times.
His music with laundry is pretty depressing but interesting and you hear another side of Tim having a bit more of a mainstream playing (talking about motivator album). Blacktongue is only depressing and original. Yeah Tim is pretty dark guy what makes his playing that unique. Brain could never remplace him even if he's good drummer too.
I'm still wondering how "Over the electric grapevines" is really played, this syncope on the Hi-hat makes it impossible and he sounds so relax.
In my drummers my holy trinity : Danny Carey, Tim Alexander, Jimmy chamberlin, Tim is my real reference.
